Random Question #2

Lionesses have no manes. How do they know when they've grown up?

Hm... when they get bigger, I guess. When they feel compelled to compete for the affection of The Lion King. (Awesome movie.) I mean, how do little girls know when they're grown up? We don't have manes, either.

Spring Weather

The rest of the country is on spring break right now, but my stupid school district doesn't let us have ours not one, but TWO weeks later. So basically, we have the last week of third term this week, the first week of fourth term next week, and THEN spring break. *sigh*

It rained today. And according to my mom, it's officially spring! Usually it snows here in March. I think I like rain better than snow, even if it's really cold. I mean, you can always watch it out the window, or in a car. Riding a car in the rain is very pleasant. Of course, if I were the driver, I might be thinking differently. Not that I can even think about driving yet. You have to be at least 15 to get a permit and I'll be fourteen until July! Most of my friends are taking Driver's Ed now. I'm very young for my age, or, I suppose I should say, young for my grade.

Blog

What the heck is a blog, anyway??? My dad says its short for "weblog" and its sort of like an online diary. I guess its kind of like a cross between a journal and a chat forum, then.

Random Question

To answer the Random Question (don't know what this is for, but I'm going to answer them as I get them):
All of the phone numbers have fallen out of your address book. Whose number do you look for first and why?

Knowing me, I'd probably just shove them all back in the adress book and smash it back in the drawer until I needed to call someone, and then I'd have to sort through all those numbers to find the one I need. This kind of thinking is what keeps my bedroom such a mess. It's an organized mess, though, mind you- See, the stuff on top and in view is the most recent stuff I've moved or put there and the stuff underneath is the stuff I don't use as much.

About me

Here are some things about me:
I am fourteen, in the ninth grade, female (I always feel the need to add that little detail, in case no one can tell by how much I like to type/talk/write, you know how chatty girls usually are). My favorite class is probably Engilsh; it has been for a long time. I like most of my classes, though, because I like learning and I usually work hard. I like to play volleyball. Last fall, I played for my high school. (It was C-team, but it was a blast and who knows, maybe next year I'll make JV!.) I also recently started figure skating lessons on ice, which I've discovered I love to do. Figure skating is probably the one sport I enjoy watching other people do. Really, I can't stand people who spend their whole day watching football or some such, (even if it IS the super bowl, I mean, seriously, there was a marathon of Charmed on the same day, and wouldn't people rather watch that?). But skating is pretty to watch, even if you don't know how the judging or the points work. It's like dancing on ice.

I also like to read and write (you can't really write well if you don't read. I've known a friend or two who don't read, and it really makes a difference on how well you do in school or writing). I'm hoping to take Newspaper next year; it's something different than I'm used to. I like to write short (and long) stories, and I definetely have had a lot of practice with essays, but news and articles is something I've rarely had to do in my life. I'm hoping to learn how to do it with this class. Isn't that what high school is for? Practice for what you're going to do in the real world?

Oh, and I love movies as well as books. Most really good movies were originally made off of books, anyway. Putting stories on the big screen just makes them famous, since everyone watches movies. It would be nice if everyone would read the books first, but I am the first to admit I haven't read a book for every movie I've seen. Though of the ones I do read, the books are usually better!

Success!

Well, now that I know I can do it.... I really wish I'd have thought of that a few minutes ago. I'll do the 'about me!' stuff again later, tomarrow maybe, unless I have to spend my whole afternoon working on a certain Spanish assessment that is due wednesday.

Testing

This is a test post. I typed this really, really, really, really, long, detailed post about me but I forgot to hit "copy" with the mouse like I usually do when I send posts through, and it didn't send, and I lost ALL of it. So this is just to make sure I really know how to make the post-er thing work.

Hello

Hello, I'm new and still figuring out how to use the site! I maybe I will use this to write stories for practice.
